  • You have to decide what you want first of all. Many people are not sure of what they really want. Setting your goals requires you to make a decision about what you want in life, and determine when you want to have achieved that thing. In other words you must put a deadline to what you currently want. Get clear about what you want. Have a good plan of action. Here are just a few of the type of questions you should be asking yourself:

    1
What do I know about this?
    What information do I have?
What information do I need? Where can I get it?
What skills do I need to master?
What other resources should I use?
Is this the best way to do it, or is there some other way?

    2
Start small, but keep going. Goals don’t have to be big ones to start. When you set your goal too high, you might find it too overwhelming and time consuming and just give up, you can over come this by setting small ones first these can be part of the bigger goal but, dont necessarily have to be.

    3
Set goals in small increments, complete with time, dates, amount, some details. If you tell yourself, “I’m going to be an R&B singer” and then sit around and wait for it to suddenly happen, you could be waiting all your life. Start with singing lessons for a month, and then a year and expose yourself to soul music. You can then progress to more singing lessons year after year. By breaking down your goals in to smaller, workable units, you are more likely to make them come true. Remember, all those big artist had to start somewhere.
    4
Be positive when stating your goals. Instead of saying, “I am not going to miss my daily exercise routine today,” say instead “I’m really busy, so I’ll probably only be able to make time for a 20 minute workout.” If you always state your goal positively it will help you view it as a good thing to do, and not as a chore or something that you would rather aviod.

    5
Spread out your goals. So maybe we do have certain general goals that apply to all areas of our lives like, “

  • Remember These Encouraging Words:

“Whenever you make a mistake or get knocked down by life, don’t look back at it too long. Mistakes are life’s way of teaching you. Your capacity for occasional blunders is inseparable from your capacity to reach your goals. No one wins them all, and your failures, when they happen, are just part of your growth. Shake off your blunders. How will you know your limits without an occasional failure? Never quit. Your turn will come.” —Og Mandino (1923~1996)

  • Life is short and the world goes on without you when you are gone. What are you going to do while you are here? What can you contribute? What is your mission in life?

ebonyeyes1 Well it would be nice to leave a nest egg for those that i leave behind but seeing as i don't have enough for myself to do as i really like this properly won't happen. So while im here i'll do my best to live good with the people around me and those that i meet along the way. Try to be a positive role model to the younger generation. Look for the good in people and address their faults when i feel its necessary. I wish i could contribute something more spectacular such as bring forth world peace but that is highly unlikely. So my mission in life is to earn as much as i can to retire it sunnier climates. What the hell yes its selfish but isn't most people all about me me me these days. They talk the talk but how many are walking the walk.726 days ago

  • Still with your prioritized list in mind you should say no to everything that gets in the way of putting these things into action. Don’t be rude or disrespectful but be ruthless. To make quick changes you need to put yourself higher up in your prioritize list and make sure that your needs are catered for. Prioritize yourself properly and you will be in the best possible position to help others.

  • Decide where your opportunities are to put these changes into action today. Personally I will be choosing something a little more healthy on my way to work. I will be identifying opportunities, where I could be a bit more confident, you might be able to identify something that you can change today, maybe it would be a good time to be a bit more generous, or something to ensure a period of calm for today and/or tomorrow. What will be your opportunities for change? ………………………………………………. ………………………………………………. ………………………………………………. ………………………………………………. ……………………………………………….

  • Posted a new discussion, Diaries and Note Books
Ok, so we have got our diaries and our note books, now we need to start by identifying what we want to change and achieve in our lives, you might want to list some of the stuff here, of course you don’t have to, but some people might find it helpful, if you do decide to do that remember to keep your personal stuff personal. Let us get started; the first thing we need to do is write down everything that we would like to be different in our lives by the time we finish our self-development program. Here is just a few of the things I want I will change in my life (I am keeping a lot of it private), some might be the same as yours but remember you should add your own things as well. By the time I finish this Self-Development program I will: Have more confidence….. Manage my time better….. Make the most of every opportunity…. Feel happier…. Have more energy…. Enjoy my life more…. These are just some of my personal objectives you should list some of your own. 1) …………………. 2) …………………. 3) …………………. 4) …………………. 5) ………………….. In order for things to change in your life, you will need to think and act differently. Write down at least five ways that you can be a different person today. For example, today I will be: More assertive Calmer More confident More generous Remember to write your own five down. Today I will be: 1) …………………. 2) …………………. 3) …………………. 4) …………………. 5) ………………….. ...

  • Thanks for the PM about my gramatical mistakes, that is the type of thing I like people who say it like it is, I have corrected it. I think please let me know if you find anymore because that is one the areas I am trying to improve. lol

    Anyway moving forward .

Earlier on I talked about making sure you have a note book, to log all the ideas as they start coming to you, but even more important is to make sure you always have a diary close to hand, this will help you when it comes making commitment and changes sooner rather than later. This process includes writing in a diary what you are going to do in order to reinforce your commitment to when you are going to do it.

  • Have you got a Life Plan? If not it might be time you got one, as the saying goes if you don't plan to succeed then you plan to fail!

You should get a notebook to accompany your thoughts as you read and start your journey of change and improvement because you will start to feel inspired as learn things about yourself, you will come up with ideas some of which you may want to share with us in this group or you may just want to keep them to yourself, but whatever happens you should use your notebook to write down what will be the ingredients to your new life plan.

  • If you havent heard of Les Brown let me encourage you to read at least one of his books. Les Brown is an African American motivational speaker who has written many books and Videos, he also a fantasic motivational speaker who has helped to change many peoples life. He along with others has helped me to start on my journey of change and self improvement. The first two books or videos of his that I would recomend is 'The Courage to Live Your Dreams'.

~ It will help you to discover how you can develop the skills you need to live your dreams.~

The other is 'The Power of Purpose'
~ All of us have what it takes to make it in today’s competitive and changing world. You may have doubted your ability to get the job done in the past, but something else may have been getting in the way of your success.~

This book as helped me to understand a little bit more about my own purpose in life.

  • Life has a way of creeping up on you, and before you know it you could find yourself in a position where you don’t really want to be, whether it is your relationship, job, health, financial position or any other demotivating or de situation.
In this group I will and I am hoping that other members will start to make changes in our lives regardless of age or situation to help ourselves and others around us achieve the things that we really want to achieve. I will be sharing resources and will be looking for, and giving advice where I can.
